My Favourite Covers Of 2019

There have been a lot of wonderful book covers this year and I just wanted to take the chance to share some of my favourites with you. I decided, as it’s not really a post that involves much writing (how many different ways can I put ‘it’s gorgeous’ in one top ten?) to try and put them in order instead…which was definitely challenging. Even now I’m not entirely convinced of my order and leaving some books out was incredibly hard. I also still need to read all of these but hope to get to them all in 2020, some of them fairly early in the year too. But anyway here’s my best attempt at picking my top ten covers of the year.

In Tenth Place:
Wilder Girls by Rory Power
In Ninth Place:
A Dress For The Wicked by Autumn Krause
In Eighth Place:
EnchantΓ©e by Gita Trelease
In Seventh Place:
The Candle And The Flame by Nafiza Azad
In Sixth Place:
The Ten Thousand Doors Of January by Alix E. Harrow
In Fifth Place:
The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White

In Fourth Place:
Sorcery Of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
In Third Place:
Spin The Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
In Second Place:
Descendant Of The Crane By Joan He
In First Place:
The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

So those are my ten favourite covers of 2019. What are yours? Are there any major ones that you think I’ve missed? Please do let me know in the comments section below.

Please note I’m currently on a semi-hiatus but I’ll be back sometime in January. After doing a lot of blog post planning I needed a bit of a break. But I’ll try to check in with comments a couple of times a week (probably after the first week in January as I would like a total blogging break over Christmas) and try to read other people’s posts fairly regularly so that I don’t totally fall behind.

    1. Me too, they’re so, so beautiful 😍 I still need to read both but hope to soon. I hope you get a chance to read Descendant Of The Crane soon, it sounds so interesting.

    1. I know, they’re gorgeous and me either πŸ˜… I do own Spin The Dawn now though and i hope to get to it soon. And I’m on the waitlist for Wilder Girls at the library – still about 60 days to go πŸ˜” that is a beautiful one!! I think picking favourites at the end of the year, when I’ve seen them all, is going to be incredibly hard.

  1. I love looking at the different covers but yeah it can definitely be hard to say something other than it is gorgeous every time πŸ˜‚ The Candle and the Flame is probably in my top three for 2019, it is so pretty!! I also have a very soft spot for Sorcery of Thorns and Descendant of the Crane!! Illustrated covers are my favourite!!
I think The Deathless Girls has so much cool detail. I also loved the UK cover for The Starless Sea!!

    1. Thanks for agreeing :L I guess I could have tried ‘oh look at that green’ ‘oh this is awesome’ but yeah… I kind of liked having a completely different post style to usual :L I know, it’s absolutely stunning! I think I probably should have placed it higher (and I’m totally keep an eye on it’s price as it’s too gorgeous not to eventually own :L) Yes both of those are incredible too! I fell for a lot of covers last year :L
Yeah I agree and I love the edition of it that I brought; it’s beautiful on the inside as well and under the cover!! So stunning. Yes that is another good one! Have you seen it with the sprayed edges? The library copy that I got – then failed to read – had it and it was incredible.

I loved the detail like the inside cover and under the cover. Extra attention to detail is always a bonus!!
The key, bee and sword sprayed edge? Because if so yes and it was beautiful!!
